My grandfather is 81 and has a gall bladder a little bit smaller then a golf ball..?

what happens next?
Answer:
They will probably remove it either laporscopic or an open (where they cut open and pull it out) since it is so enlarge they might have to do the open. On the other hand, is he having any problems related to this? If not at his age I would figure they might just say the risks of surgery might out wiegh the benifts of having it out. But if it is having problems get it out. He'll stay a couple days in the hospital.
I would think that they would just remove the gallbladder. It's minimally invasive, laproscopic usually. That's how mine was removed. I was in the hospital for 2 days and recovered at home for another 4 days. The recovery times will be longer because of his age, but other than being more worried about blood clots, if he's in good health he should be fine.
