My friend has an ear problem...any suggestion?

her doctor told her that she has fungi in her ears...and almost everyday, her ears hurts...what do you think is the medicine for that?
Answer:
Didn't her MD prescribe a med for her? If he didn't, I suggest she see someone else. like the other girl answered, it sounds like otitis externa which is an infection or inflammation of the external canal. Major causes are bacteria, fungi, viruses, or trauma. Allergy to nickle from wearing earrings as well. The most used med is a sulfa drug and neomycin. Since it's Summer, excessive swimming can wash out the protective ear wax and lead to secondary infections. Otitis externa is most prevalent in hot, humid weather. Some treatment include analgesics, thorough local cleansing, topical antimicrobial to treat infection, or topical corticosteroids to reduce inflammation.
She has Otitus ExterniaShe needs eardrops with an antifungal preparation and probably a 1% cortisone additive to reduce the swelling also. The Dr should have prescribed it for her
